River shuttle extended until December 11
Clément Bolano - November 3, 2022
In addition to renewing the pilot project of the shuttle linking Pointe-aux-Trembles to the Old Port of Montreal, which has been in operation since 2018, the Autorité régionale de transport
(ARTM) has announced that five new river links will be added this summer between the South Shore of Montreal and the metropolis.
Connections between the Old Port of Montreal and Boucherville and between the Old Port Old Port, Île Sainte-Hélène and Longueuil will be activated as of June 4, along with the existing link with Pointe-aux-Trembles.
On June 6, a route linking Boucherville and the Promenade Bellerive Park will be added. This will be a very interesting mitigation measure for citizens affected by the construction of the Louis-Hippolyte-La-Fontaine tunnel, according to the ARTM press release.
5 new river links between the South Shore and Montreal this summer
Radio Canada - May 18, 2022
EXCLUSIVE – Due to work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Bridge-Tunnel, the Montreal-Mercier to Boucherville (MMB) river shuttle is extended until December 11. The service remains free of charge, offering an economical alternative to driving alone.
Remember that an initial extension was announced until November 13 to mitigate the impact of the megachannel.
This new extension of service is "subject to weather conditions," said Simon Charbonneau, spokesperson for the Regional Transit Authority. "The water level of the river is lower in winter. If there is a storm with hail and snow before December 11, we can adjust," he said.
